Central Park West Apartment

This Central Park West apartment had good bones but not much else. Exposed exhaust ducts, cracked and peeling finishes, windows blocked up with air conditioners–it needed help.

To restore the dignity of this classic seven, we carved out space to tuck ducts and equipment out of sight. The kitchen and pantry cabinets are gleaming stainless steel and etched glass. In contrast, the floors for both rooms are a warm red linoleum (the original all-natural recipe, not vinyl).

We set the living room fireplace into a serene wall of stone and Venetian plaster, flanked by recessed bookcases. Flush curtains of metal beads veil the books for minimalist cool.
