Summer 2026

Hot Time: Summer in the City

Summer is New York’s sexiest season. It’s too hot for clothes. Everyone is tanned and shiny. And with half the city off in the Hamptons, the streets are blissfully empty.

So throw on that tank top, grab your iced coffee, and join us in the nation’s greatest urban heat island. At Sherman Architects, we are channeling the energy radiating off the concrete into a summer of blazing designs and bustling jobsites. Here is what’s shimmering on our horizon this quarter.

On the Drawing Boards: New Summer Projects

Landmark on Leonard

Construction is officially underway on our glamorous apartment renovation in the McKim, Mead & White designated landmark on Leonard Street. The former New York Life Insurance Building houses spectacular, soaring condos. Revitalizing a property on the
National Register of Historic Places is a thrilling puzzle. We are proud to preserve the monumental scale of this historic space while threading in cutting-edge amenities.

A Shore Thing

Now that we’re licensed in New Jersey, we’re eager to take on more garden-state projects. Fortuitously, a repeat client needs an overhaul of their house on the Jersey Shore. Our new design will meld the original folk Victorian architecture of the beach house with a surf-shack vibe. We’ll also give it an open kitchen, a new library, and a more graceful connection to the outdoors.

Prewar Sophistication on the Upper East Side

Uptown, we are kicking off a comprehensive apartment renovation on the Upper East Side. We’re giving this classic six a new streamlined layout that’s also seamlessly integrated with a suite of mod furnishings. In the process, we’re enlarging the building’s tiny bathrooms despite its wet-over-dry restrictions.

What We’re Loving This Season

Growing the Firm

Please welcome the newest member of our team: Moe Kawakami. Starting in July, Moe joins our roster of talented designers. And we’ll get her feet wet on the Jersey Shore project.

Whether you are escaping to the beach or chilling in the city, we hope your summer is filled with light, space, and inspiration. Our door is always open (and the AC is running)—stop by and let’s design your next chapter.
